LANTUS® Insulin Injections

Some of the most common questions about LANTUS®, or any other insulin, are about the injections.

One important thing to know is that today’s insulin needles are small and thin and generally cause little discomfort. Plus, you inject LANTUS® just once a day, at the same time each day.

Injection sites should be changed within the same body area from one injection to the next. Do NOT dilute or mix LANTUS® with any other insulin or solution. It will not work as intended and you may lose blood sugar control, which could be serious. LANTUS® must only be used if the solution is clear and colorless with no particles visible. Do not share needles, insulin pens or syringes with others.

Your doctor will help you determine the best time to take LANTUS® and show you the proper way to inject LANTUS®. But here are some helpful tips and videos:

"I've been a nurse for over 30 years and have given insulin shots all the time. But giving one to myself was a little different. "
